In line with the previously posted hosting strategy change we have successfully migrated a number of customer’s sites to one of two new virtual servers. Initial testing has been very promising and the servers have been running with test sites for the previous two months without any issues. The migrated sites are showing a major increase in performance, especially the WordPress sites which are, relatively, resource hungry.
The new servers are based in the UK which has also improved UK latency for those sites that have been migrated. Future servers will be created in mainland Europe. Customer’s sites that are covered by the EU data protection acts can now be hosted on our main server infrastructure rather than the previous adhoc arrangements. (All sites that include data covered by the data protection act must be hosted in a country that has a similar level of protection, this excludes hosting on our US based servers).
The migrated sites will be monitored for a few months now to ensure that the new infrastructure can offer equivalent or better service levels that those of our older infrastructure.
